The Ritchey Project

In 1981, my Dad went to Bud's Bike Shop in Claremont, California, and bought this 24" frame Ritchey. He had the bike shop install the odometer, kickstand, and bar-end mirror, then brought it home and put it in his garage. He seldom rode it. Even though it was too big for me I rode it a few times, putting most of the 117 miles on it that are still the ORIGINAL miles. My Dad passed away and it hurt to look at the bike, so it was put in storage for many years. Now, the bike has been rescued from storage. The fillet brazed 24" frame has a few nicks and scratches from storage and there is some mild flash rust on some parts. The cables are frozen and the derailleurs are gummed up, but the SR Laprade seatpost came right out when I released the Campy quick release. The bike will be easy to restore to working order. This bike, number 1R0093 (1981 frame number 93), came with Ritchey Biplane forks, a Huret Duopar rear derailleur, Simplex Wide Range front derailleur, TA Alloy Triple crankset, Tom Ritchey custom sealed bearing bottom bracket, blue Araya alloy wheels, Bullseye hubs, Mafac cantilever brakes, and matte nickel Bullmoose handlebars with Oakley MX grips. The tires are still the original Specialized Stumpjumpers.
