I purchased this bike in 1984 from Paul at West Point Cycles. At the time I was a bike messenger in Vancouver and it was hard to leave this bike at home but the job was super hard on bikes and I'd already broken two Kuwahara's. That year I won the first Canadian Mountain Bike Championships, there were only 5 of us, ha. That was a big deal for me, I wasn't much of a hill climber but I was a downhill rocket. The following year I rode with the DFL Team and won the Kamikaze Downhill in Bishop California on this bike. I did a number of other races and century rides around California and then rigged the bike for touring. I rode across Colorado, Utah including the White Rim Trail and did mostly dirt all the way to Nevada then to LA and up to BC. When I ride this bike it's experiential. Now I'm rebuilding it as my town bike : ) thank you Tom Ritchey for a most awesome lifetime ride.
